Review the trading performance of your connected MetaTrader 5 accounts in the ChartBridge Portal. Analytics has four pages: Overview, Positions History, Pending Order History and Calendar.

Analytics describes past results. A good period does not predict the next one; compare enough trades, and include costs, before drawing conclusions.

Strategy

Each trade is tagged with the strategy of the EA Token that uploaded it. With one EA on the account, that is your strategy. With several ChartBridge EAs on the same account, every EA sees every trade and the first upload to arrive sets the strategy, so the Strategy column and switcher may not match the strategy that placed the trade.

Choose what you are looking at

The page header has these controls:

ControlWhat it does
Date rangeOverview only. Presets: Today, 7 days, 14 days, 1 month, 1 year, All time, or a custom range. Default: 7 days.
RefreshReloads the latest data from the Portal. It does not ask the EA to resend anything.
Strategy switcherOverview and Calendar. Show one strategy or all.
Account switcherAll pages. Show one MetaTrader account or all.

Date range presets start at the beginning of the day: 7 days covers today plus the previous seven days. A trade belongs to the day it closed.

Before reading any number, check the account, strategy and date range. Every metric below is for that selection only.

Overview

Performance cards

Every card uses each trade's net result: profit + commission + swap. A trade with a net result above 0 is a win, below 0 is a loss, and exactly 0 is breakeven. Breakeven trades count towards Total Trades but are neither wins nor losses.

CardWhat it showsHow it is calculated
Net P&L & BalanceYour overall result for the period. Below it: the Balance recorded on the last closed trade in the period. The line shows the running total.Sum of net results (gross profit − gross loss)
Win RateShare of closed trades that were wins. Below it: wins / losses. Green at 50% or more, amber from 40%, red below 40%.Wins ÷ total trades × 100
Profit FactorHow many dollars you made for every dollar you lost. Green at 1.5 or more, amber from 1.0, red below 1.0. ∞ means no losing trades.Gross profit ÷ gross loss
Risk to RewardYour average win compared with your average loss, shown as 1 : x. 1 : 2 means the average win is twice the average loss. Below it: average win / average loss.Average win ÷ average loss
ExpectancyThe average amount a trade made or lost, based on your win rate and average win/loss size. Below it: net P&L ÷ total trades.(win rate × average win) − (100% − win rate) × average loss
Max DrawdownThe largest fall from a balance high to a later low in the period, as a percentage and in dollars.See Drawdown in detail
Avg Win / LossThe same ratio as Risk to Reward, shown as a multiple, with a bar comparing average win and average loss.Average win ÷ average loss
Total TradesNumber of positions closed in the period. The small bars show the size of each hour's, day's or month's net result, gains and losses alike.Count of closed positions

Gross profit = sum of the net results of winning trades. Gross loss = sum of the net results of losing trades, as a positive number. Average win = gross profit ÷ number of wins. Average loss = gross loss ÷ number of losses.

Expectancy counts breakeven trades on the loss side of the formula, so with breakeven trades in the period it can be lower than the net P&L ÷ trades figure shown beneath it.

Read the metrics together

A single number can mislead. A 70% win rate loses money if the losses are much larger than the wins; a 30% win rate can be profitable if the wins are large.

Worked example: 20 trades, 8 wins totalling $800 and 12 losses totalling $600.

MetricCalculationResult
Net P&L$800 − $600+$200.00
Win Rate8 ÷ 2040.00%
Profit Factor$800 ÷ $6001.33
Average win$800 ÷ 8$100.00
Average loss$600 ÷ 12$50.00
Risk to Reward$100 ÷ $501 : 2.00
Expectancy(0.40 × $100) − (0.60 × $50) = $40 − $30+$10.00

The 40% win rate looks weak alone, but each win is twice the size of each loss, so the strategy made $10 per trade on average.

The win rate you need to break even falls as your reward grows: break-even win rate = 1 ÷ (1 + reward). At 1 : 1 you need 50%; at 1 : 2, 33.3%; at 1 : 3, 25%. Costs push these numbers up.

Drawdown in detail

Max Drawdown follows the Balance recorded after each closed trade, not live equity. Open losing positions do not count until they close.

  1. The starting high is the balance just before the first trade in the period: that trade's Balance minus its net result.
  2. After each closed trade, the new balance becomes the high if it is above the old one.
  3. Drawdown at that trade = high − balance, in dollars, and (high − balance) ÷ high, in percent.
  4. Max Drawdown shows the largest dollar drawdown and the largest percentage drawdown in the period.

Example: the balance rises from $10,000 to $11,000, then falls to $10,450. Drawdown = $11,000 − $10,450 = $550, or $550 ÷ $11,000 = 5.00%.

The dollar and percentage figures are tracked separately, so they can come from different dips. Deposits and withdrawals change the balance too, so a withdrawal can appear as a drawdown.

Charts

The charts group trades by hour when the date range is 48 hours or less, by day when it is up to 31 days, and by month for longer ranges.

ChartWhat it shows
Cumulative P&LRunning total of net results across the period. Green above zero, red below.
Period P&LNet result of each hour, day or month as a bar. Green for profit, red for loss, grey for none.
DrawdownThe deepest drawdown, in dollars, reached in each hour, day or month.
Trade CalendarOne month, each day coloured by its net result: green for profit, red for loss. It shows the month of the range's end date, or of the latest trade when no end date is chosen, and only trades inside the date range. View Full opens the Calendar page.

Trade Statistics

StatisticWhat it shows
Gross ProfitSum of net results of all winning trades.
Gross LossSum of net results of all losing trades, shown as a positive amount.
Long Trades (won %)Number of buy positions closed, and the share of them that were wins.
Short Trades (won %)Number of sell positions closed, and the share of them that were wins.
Largest Profit TradeThe single best net result in the period.
Largest Loss TradeThe single worst net result in the period.
Total CommissionsBroker commission across all closed trades in the period.
Total SwapOvernight rollover interest across all closed trades in the period.

Because each trade's net result already includes its commission and swap, Gross Profit and Gross Loss are after costs.

Calendar

A full-month view of daily results. Choose the month and year, or step with the arrows. It follows the account and strategy switchers, not the Overview date range.

CardWhat it shows
Net ProfitSum of net results of all positions closed in the month.
Total TradesNumber of positions closed in the month.
Win DaysDays whose combined net result was above 0.
Loss DaysDays whose combined net result was below 0.

Each day shows its net result and number of trades: green for a profitable day, red for a losing day, plain for no trades or exactly breakeven. Weeks start on Monday.

Trades are missing

  1. Account and strategy: check both switchers. Selecting one account or strategy hides trades from the others.
  2. Date range: the Overview defaults to 7 days. Choose All time to see everything.
  3. Closed trades only: open positions appear once they close.
  4. EA connection: confirm the EA is running and connected in MetaTrader. Trades closed while it was off arrive when it starts again.
  5. Refresh: select Refresh in the page header to reload the data.
