ChartBridge Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Find answers to common questions about ChartBridge setup, EA configuration, TradingView webhooks, and order execution.
What is ChartBridge? ChartBridge is an ultra-fast trading automation bridge that connects TradingView alerts to MetaTrader 5 accounts. When an alert condition triggers in TradingView, it sends a webhook to ChartBridge, which forwards the instruction in real-time to the ChartBridge EA running on your MT5 terminal for instant execution.
Where do I find my EA Token? Your EA Token is located in the ChartBridge Portal under Strategies (https://staging.chartbridge.com/home/strategies). On your strategy card, click the Copy button next to EA Token.
What is the ChartBridge Webhook URL? The official webhook endpoint to enter in TradingView is: https://tf.staging.chartbridge.com/webhook
Do I need a paid TradingView account? Yes. TradingView requires an active paid plan (Essential, Plus, or Premium) to enable the Webhook URL feature under alert notifications. Free TradingView accounts only support email and pop-up notifications.
Do I need to leave my computer or MetaTrader 5 running? TradingView runs its alerts in the cloud, but your MetaTrader 5 terminal and the ChartBridge EA must remain open and connected to the internet to receive and execute orders. If you close MT5, incoming alerts cannot execute. For 24/7 reliability, we recommend running MT5 on a Windows VPS (Virtual Private Server).
Can I run ChartBridge on a VPS? Yes. ChartBridge runs on any Windows VPS running Windows 10, Windows 11, or Windows Server. Ensure that Allow DLL imports and Allow Algo Trading are enabled in your MT5 terminal settings.
Can I use MetaTrader 5 downloaded from my broker? Yes. ChartBridge is compatible with standard MetaTrader 5 as well as custom-branded MT5 terminals provided by your broker or prop firm.
Why does the EA fail to connect or show DLL error? In MetaTrader 5, click Tools -> Options (Ctrl + O), go to the Expert Advisors tab, and ensure Allow DLL imports and Allow Algo Trading are both checked. If Allow DLL imports is disabled, the EA cannot load Chartbridge.Metatrader5.dll and cannot establish a WebSocket connection.
Can my trading accounts run on separate computers? Yes. You can run MT5 terminals on different physical computers or VPS machines. Each terminal connects using its assigned EA Token from your Strategies page.
What message syntax should I put in TradingView? ChartBridge supports clean comma-separated syntax: EAToken,buy,EURUSD,risk=0.01
Replace EAToken with your token from the Strategies page, buy with your command, and EURUSD with your broker's exact symbol. You can also specify explicit parameters such as: EAToken,buy,EURUSD,vol_lots=0.1,sl_pips=20,tp_pips=40
Why didn't my TradingView alert place a trade? Check the following steps:
Why did TradingView pause or stop my alert? TradingView limits regular webhook alerts from triggering more than 15 times within a 3-minute window. If your alert fires faster than that, TradingView automatically pauses it to protect against spamming. Use appropriate trigger conditions such as Once Per Bar Close for trading strategies.
Do I need to attach the ChartBridge EA to every chart? No. You only need to attach the ChartBridge EA to a single chart in your MetaTrader 5 terminal. That single instance can listen for alerts and execute trades across any available symbol on your broker account.
How do I run multiple independent strategies on one MT5 account? To run multiple strategies without trade interference:
What is Power Mode in the EA settings?
How does ChartBridge handle lot sizing? Lot sizing depends on your EA Volume Type setting (Main Configuration):
What is Symbol Bridge (Symbol Mapping)? Symbol Bridge translates incoming TradingView tickers to the exact symbol required by your MT5 broker. For example, if TradingView sends symbol=US30 but your broker trades DJ30, Symbol Bridge automatically replaces the ticker before the trade reaches your terminal. Configure it under Symbol Bridge in the portal (https://staging.chartbridge.com/home/bridge).
Can I receive notifications on Telegram? Yes. Go to Notifications in the portal (https://staging.chartbridge.com/home/notifications), click Connect Bot under Telegram Bot, scan the QR code, and tap Start in Telegram. You can then choose which events (trade executions, errors, or terminal disconnects) send push notifications to your phone.
Can I receive email alerts? Yes. Your primary verified account email can receive execution receipts and failure alerts. Enable the Email checkboxes for any desired event in the Alert Rules & Routing table on the Notifications page.
What execution latency should I expect? ChartBridge is optimized for low latency with sub-second execution. Typical round-trip execution latency (from TradingView alert trigger to broker order fill confirmation) is 200ms to 400ms, depending on your VPS location and broker execution speed.
Why do TradingView and MetaTrader 5 show different prices? TradingView charts use data feeds from specific exchanges or retail liquidity providers (such as OANDA, FXCM, or Binance), whereas MetaTrader 5 displays live streaming prices directly from your specific broker. Because spreads, quotes, and timestamps differ between providers, we recommend using pip-based targets (Target Type = Pips) or allowing for small price offsets when using exact price targets.
Where can I review past trade logs and errors? Open Trade Logs in the ChartBridge Portal (https://staging.chartbridge.com/home/tradelogs). Every signal received is recorded with its raw command, parsed parameters, execution latency, MT5 ticket number, and broker response status.
